Since everyone, except those who don't think they'll have a "valentine" this year or those who have bad memories of this month, will be celebrating the "love day," this Blog is written to show you love.
When something goes wrong, people oftentimes say that God did it. They sometimes ask, "why?" or "what did the particular person do to deserve the situation?"
To answer that question, we'd have to go back to Genesis. When Adam and Eve sinned, they brought death, sickness, pain and a whole host of evil upon themselves, their off spring and every created thing. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a). All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
Did the baby who was thrown into the dumpster sin? No. But he/she was born with a sinful nature (see Psalms 51:5). He/she was also born to a mother with a sinful nature and because of selfishness, pride, fear or hopelessness (all the results of sin), that mother chose to discard her baby like trash.
God did not do that. He did not want that to happen. Yes, the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a), but if we continue reading the same verse, we'd see that the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23b). For God so loved the world that he have His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him [Jesus] might be saved (John 3:17).
That's love!!!
Which of us would give up a child to save someone who may not even appreciate the sacrifice? Not me, thinking with selfish heart. The opposite of love is selfishess. Philipians 2:6,7 tells us that Christ didn't think that equality with God was something to be selfishly withheld, but the Creator (see John 1:1,2 & 14 and Colossians 1:16) made himself like the beings he created in order to save us.
Read Colossians 1:3-17 for further study)
You choose for yourself if that constitutes love.
